Israel releases Lebanese detainee as framework dispute deepens

Israel released Lebanese detainee Malek Ghazi to the Lebanese Army through the Red Cross on Thursday, with four more releases expected, following U.S.-mediated talks, according to Naharnet. Lebanese President Joseph Aoun separately accused Israel of violating the U.S.-brokered framework deal amid continued strikes in southern Lebanon, while Israel's military said it holds "operational control" of the Ali al-Taher ridge, according to The National. The next round of Lebanon-Israel talks is expected around September 15–16.
