Israeli strikes have killed more than 1,000 Palestinians since the current ceasefire took effect, according to Daily News Egypt, with Gaza's Government Media Office separately reporting 342 Palestinians killed across 497 ceasefire violations in the deal's first 44 days. In September 2025, a UN Commission of Inquiry on the Occupied Palestinian Territory concluded that Israel had committed genocide against Palestinians in Gaza and that senior Israeli officials incited the acts — a finding Israel has rejected as distorted. This week, Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir unveiled a plan to pursue the "voluntary emigration" of roughly 250,000 Gazans in its first year, according to the Times of Israel, timed to his party's campaign ahead of Israel's October 27 election.
